Back to School Sensory Bin Maze

Create your own sensory bin at home and get excited to go back to school!

This activity develops fine motor skills with pinching, pouring, and scooping. Work on language skills to describe the items in the bin. Kids participate in sensory exploration through different textures, smells, sights, things they hear, and if applicable, taste. Work on social skills to communicate and share as they play. This activity incorporates imaginative play with endless possibilities.

Tip: You can add a variety of different items to your sensory bin. Use ingredients like rice, sand, play-dough, aquarium gravel, pom-pom balls, cut-up pipe cleaners, confetti pieces, coins, feathers, shapes, letters, or anything that can provide a different sensory experience.

You’ll need:

  • A large flat container

  • Rice, cereal, dry beans, or other filler items

  • Pencils

  • Printed house, bus, and school (available in our app)
