Teletherapy

Your Path to Clear Communication - Virtually!

Teletherapy is convenient, interactive, efficient, and requires zero travel. At Tilton’s Therapy, our therapists provide quality services through a HIPAA-approved platform and collaborate with parents, family members, and caseworkers. High-quality therapeutic activities are completed with visually rewarding age-appropriate games and incentives. Home programming, open communication and specific communicative strategies are provided just as a therapist would in an in-home session.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Children love working with technology! They are very motivated by visual incentives and complete structured speech, oral motor and feeding activities while having fun in their natural environment with parental support as needed. The therapist provides home programming to help your child meet his or her goals just as they would receiving in-person services.

  • Studies have proven that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, suggesting that one of the biggest benefits of virtual therapy is that it allows people to get treatment faster, which improves their quality of life sooner!

  • The same activities that are done in person are completed online by using digital resources and interactive therapy games.

  • You need a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera, microphone, and speakers. Most devices have a built-in camera, speakers and a microphone.

  • Children aged 10 months and up may be good candidates for teletherapy. The younger they are, the more hands-on assistance they need during each session. Older children can use a computer independently with minimal assistance although parental/guardian supervision is required.

  • Parents and guardians are encouraged to sit beside the patient to be part of the therapy session. You can also watch from a distance if that works better for your family. Many therapists provide home programming at the end of the session prior to logging off.

  • No, during the therapy session your child is engaged in meaningful interactions with his or her therapist.

  • Just like in-person therapy, the frequency and duration vary on a case-by-case basis. Sessions will not occur more than three times a week.

  • Sessions are not recorded.

  • We use encrypted, HIPAA compliant software. Patient information is confidential and kept private as mandated by law.

  • Situations can vary and/or change with successful responses to teletherapy and that is very understandable. Tilton’s Therapy is happy to accommodate this need and transition your child to in-person therapy services pending therapists’ openings and availability at the time of need.
