Fall Harvest Orchard Adventure
September is often associated with back-to-school and apple harvest season. This activity is framed as a trip to an orchard where kids “pick apples” to complete fun developmental challenges.
How to Play
Setup:
Print and cut out the Harvest Apples (printable download in our app).
Hide or place the apples around the room, taped to walls, tucked under cushions, or spread out like a little orchard.
Instructions for Kids:
Each child carries a small basket or bag (real or paper version).
They “pick” an apple and complete the activity written/drawn on it before placing it in their basket.
Examples of Apple Challenges:
OT focus: “Use your fingers to crumple this leaf into a tiny ball,” “Draw a circle on the back of the apple card with your finger.”
PT focus: “Jump like a squirrel gathering acorns 5 times,” “Balance on one foot like a scarecrow in the field.”
ST focus: “Name 3 fall things,” “Say ‘apple orchard’ three times,” “What sound does the wind make?”
Finishing the Game:
Once all apples are picked, the group celebrates by pretending to make “apple cider” together—stirring motions, blowing on “warm cider,” and saying “Mmmm!”
Bonus Variation
Add Leaf Cards to mix in with apples:
Leaf cards can be “wild cards” with silly prompts like: “Spin like a falling leaf,” or “Whisper the word ‘pumpkin.’”
This adds variety and keeps the activity playful.
Use blank apple or leaf cards to write your own prompts.
