Objective
Catch the “fireflies” by finding and completing cards with prompts hidden around the play area. Each firefly card has a glowing word, movement, or activity related to a summer theme.
Materials Needed
Printable "Firefly Flash Cards" (design idea below)
Small flashlight or glowstick (optional)
Tape or clothespins (for placing cards around)
Basket or jar (to collect cards)
Timer (optional)
How to Play:
Setup:
Print and cut out the Firefly Flash Cards.
Tape or clip the cards around the yard, room, or hallway.
Give the child a flashlight or glowstick (optional for extra fun!).
Start the Game:
Tell the child the fireflies are glowing with special messages or tasks.
Their mission is to find and collect the fireflies by:
Locating the card
Completing the task on the card
“Catching” the firefly by placing it in the jar or basket
Optional Game Variations:
With a timer: See how many they can find in 5 minutes.
With a partner: Take turns or work together to complete tasks.
At dusk or in dim lighting: Use the flashlight for visual motor fun!
