Snowflake Word Hunt Game
This game aims to promote speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy concepts in a fun and festive way.
Instructions:
Print the digital download of snowflake cut-outs, each featuring a different word related to Christmas or winter, and the winter wonderland scene (option: open this scene on a tablet, TV, or computer screen).
Hide the snowflakes around a room or outdoor area.
Have children search for the snowflakes. This encourages physical movement and coordination, promoting aspects of physical therapy.
Once a snowflake is found, the child must read the word aloud, promoting speech therapy concepts.
Then, they should use the word in a sentence, further promoting speech therapy and cognitive development.
Lastly, the child should take their snowflake to the winter wonderland scene (printed or opened digitally). They need to search for the item in the scene and point to it when they do. This promotes fine motor skills, an essential part of occupational therapy.
What This Game Involves:
Speech Therapy: The game encourages language development and articulation through reading and using new words in sentences.
Occupational Therapy: The collage-making part of the game promotes fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and planning.
Physical Therapy: Searching for the snowflakes encourages gross motor skills, balance, and coordination.
