Animal Movement Dice Game

Play this activity to combine gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and other physical therapy concepts in a fun and interactive game. It requires a printable resource to accompany the activity, which is a simple, foldable 6-sided dice template.

You’ll Need:

Instructions:

  1. Print the dice template on cardstock or stiff paper.

  2. Cut out the template and assemble the dice using tape or glue, as needed.

  3. Teach your child the specific movement patterns associated with each animal:

    • Bear: Walk on hands and feet with hips lifted like a bear.

    • Frog: Squat down and jump forward like a frog.

    • Kangaroo: Hop on two feet like a kangaroo.

    • Crab: Sit on the floor, plant hands and feet, and walk sideways like a crab.

    • Flamingo: Stand on one foot with the other foot resting on the opposite knee, balancing like a flamingo.

    • Snake: Lie face down and slither on the floor like a snake.

  4. Have kids roll the dice and perform the animal movement associated with the rolled animal for a set distance or time.

This activity is a great game to develop gross motor skills, muscle strength, balance, and coordination. It is also a fun way to incorporate physical activity and imaginative play into your child's daily routine.
