Team Feature: Yvonne Randall, Director of Rehab for Northern Nevada, Community & Practice Advocate
This month’s featured team member is Yvonne Randall, Occupational Therapist and Community Practice Advocate at Tilton’s Therapy.
Over 35 years, Yvonne has loved her career as an Occupational Therapist. No matter the position, she expressed her joy in helping meet the needs of her clients. Initially, Yvonne’s interest in Occupational Therapy came about in middle school while reading an article in Seventeen magazine! She wrote to the American Occupational Therapy Association and received a large envelope filled with information about the profession. The first time she actually met an Occupational Therapist was in high school when her guidance counselor connected her with the only Occupational Therapist in her school district.
“Being able to help clients achieve their personal goals is the best part of being an Occupational Therapist.”
Yvonne has worked in a variety of settings throughout her career including hospitals, early intervention, outpatient, rehabilitation, home healthcare, skilled nursing facilities, and adult day care. In academia, she has held positions of faculty, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, Program Director, Associate Dean, and Consultant.
Throughout the course of her career, Yvonne has always been involved with the volunteer sector of her profession. Initially, she engaged in in-state Occupational Therapy associations serving as Special Interest Chairperson, Secretary, and President, then at the national level in the AOTA Representative Assembly, as New Mexico and Nevada representative, Nominations Chairperson, and Speaker. Yvonne also worked as Regional Chair and Chairperson with the American Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee. She was the Treasurer for the Society for the Study of Occupational and looks forward to her next volunteer position as a program reviewer on the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.
Born in New Mexico, Yvonne remained there until leaving during her junior year for Occupational Therapy school at Texas Woman’s University. She has called Las Vegas, NV home for 28 years now. She loves being in the desert and appreciates living somewhere with an international airport as she loves to travel!
In her spare time, Yvonne makes time for two annual trips, including one to New Mexico for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in October as well as the NCAA Division I Volleyball Finals in December.
“Last year a puppy joined our home which has resulting in much time spent in puppy and adult classes, and now agility training!”
Yvonne is passionate about the Las Vegas Aces, UNLV Women’s Volleyball, and Lady Rebel basketball teams. She also expressed a love for traveling the United States and the world. To date, she has visited 45 states! Her international travel includes Nigeria, South Africa, France, Ireland, Spain, Australia, and Canada.
Thank you, Yvonne, for your dedication and continued service in progressing the discipline of Occupational Therapy and helping your clients achieve their goals over the years. We are grateful you are a part of the Tilton’s Therapy team!
