Team Feature: Samantha Gregg, Director of Occupational Therapy, S. Nevada

This month, we are excited to feature our awesome Director of Occupational Services, Samantha Gregg! Sam received her Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Psychology, English, and Human Development Family Studies from Texas Tech University in 2013, and has since received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University three years later.

Starting her work with the pediatric special needs population as a senior in high school, Sam has always had a strong calling for the work she does. As the oldest of five kids in her family, she naturally helped take care of her siblings, two of whom have special needs. This is something she had a passion for, working with children, and Sam knew from the age of 10 years old that working with these amazing kids was something she wanted to do in her life. After stumbling upon the discipline of occupational therapy in a Google search, Sam didn’t stop that search in her pursuit of the profession.

In school, Sam had the unique experience and opportunity of working with another individual, which ultimately inspired her to pursue this work.

“The inspiration for me choosing this work was a particular student that I went to school with in elementary school, she was a light. I got the amazing opportunity to help her during the day and she taught me about life, love, compassion for others, and that just because you may not be just like everyone else, doesn’t mean that you are not capable and that you don’t have an amazing gift to share with the world.”

Sam has worked in the outpatient and school setting since finishing high school and has worked with TT4T since 2018. Switching from the school system to therapeutic intervention in the natural environment was a positive decision for her career as well. In addition to her amazing work with her clients, Sam also gives back to the profession with dedication to the education of others. She hopes to continue her work with students to help them begin their profession as a therapist and understand the amazing opportunities that work in the home health setting presents.

When asked about what aspects she enjoys the most about her profession, Sam says that “the best aspect is learning to communicate with children in ways that are ‘outside of the box.’” She loves when she can “hear” what a child is saying, and really loves telling parents that “your child has so much to say, we just need to figure out how to listen to them.” Some of her passions in her work simply come from caring for the children on her caseload and working with those in the foster system as well.

Originally born in Colorado at the Air Force Base and relocating to Texas shortly thereafter, Sam ended up moving to Las Vegas when she was 6 years old. Although she attended college out of state, she returned to Vegas to soak up the 300 days of sunshine the city gets each year. Sam enjoys the central location Las Vegas provides as well. Although she tends to focus on work (and some have said a little too much!) Sam enjoys spending her free time on hikes, getting exercise, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

Sam is such a wonderful part of our team at Tilton’s Therapy and we are so proud to work with her! She has gone above and beyond building relationships with universities, creating resources for other therapists on our team, expanding her horizons, and always being flexible and willing to help out wherever she is needed.

We appreciate you and your dedication Sam!
