Team Feature: Alyssa Carreon, PT

This month we are featuring a new member of the Tilton’s Therapy team, Alyssa Carreon, Physical Therapist!

Alyssa pronounces her name “Uh-l-eye-ssa” and not the usual “Uh-lih-ssa.” She was born and raised in the beautiful biggest little city of Reno. At the University of Nevada, Reno, Alyssa earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Science in 2018. She continued on to achieve her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in 2022.

During the course of her career thus far, Alyssa has worked in the pediatric realm since graduating from high school where she tutored and worked with children in the subjects of English and Math. During her clinical rotations, she had the opportunity to work with children with different conditions including Down Syndrome, Torticollis, and delayed motor function.

Originally, Alyssa was drawn to pediatrics from a class in Physical Therapy school. She instantly loved the environment and the opportunity to help children and their motor development in order for them to find success when they reach adulthood. Another aspect Alyssa favored about working with pediatrics was the comfort she felt being in the pediatric room as it gave her excitement to be using the equipment and the opportunity to come up with interesting treatments for the kids to enjoy.

Throughout her experience as a Physical Therapist, Alyssa has worked in other settings, including rotations in the outpatient and outpatient hospital settings where she would have one-on-one treatments with the patients.

Occupational balance is important, and in her spare time, Alyssa enjoys venturing into the great outdoors of Lake Tahoe, playing volleyball, and spending plenty of quality time with her family and friends. Another passion of Alyssa’s is travel — she would like to continue visiting destinations out of state or even out of the country.

Alyssa has lived in Reno, NV for about 24 years, lived in Washington for about 2.5 years and after her time there, decided to come back to Reno to remain close to family (plus she missed the wonderful sun of Northern Nevada!)

Thank you Alyssa for joining the Tilton’s Therapy Team! We are excited to have you on board and look forward to all the wonderful work you will do with your clients!
