Team Feature: Jordan Sambrano, OT

This month, our featured team member is Occupational Therapist Jordan Sambrano!

Jordan received an undergraduate degree in General Studies as well as Gerontology and Addiction Treatment Services from the University of Nevada Reno (UNR). She then went on to receive a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Touro University Nevada. She has worked in the outpatient pediatric clinic setting since July 2019. Originally, Jordan was inspired to pursue Occupational Therapy after realizing the opportunities are truly endless.

“The chance to work with people across the lifespan, in all contexts, and help them participate in the activities they love…sold!

In the past, Jordan has experience working PRN at a skilled nursing facility in Reno, NV. In addition, she has volunteered her time through fieldwork experience within the school district, early intervention services, mental health, and experience in acute care settings.

When asked what theory or aspect Jordan likes most about her profession, she stated that she loves Occupational Therapy because each day is different. She can have an entire caseload of people who are working on similar skills but the approach is different for every person. Jordan appreciates that the opportunity to get to know her patients and clients and discover what motivates them is a unique lens in Occupational Therapy.

Throughout her career, Jordan has given back to the profession through opportunities as a fieldwork educator for two level II students over the past year. She has also has the opportunity to speak to undergraduate students and introduce them to the field of Occupational Therapy.

Jordan is originally from Reno, NV, “born and raised in the Biggest Little City.” She expressed that she absolutely loves in there. She appreciates that it is central to so many outdoor activities and feels spoiled to have the Sierra Nevada in her backyard and to be able to find adventures in any direction. Jordan does her best to keep up with her adrenaline-junkie of a husband! She considers herself an introvert, but loves to make meaningful connections with people.

“I enjoy serving those around me and am excited to take on new adventures after I overthink them of course! (: ”

In her spare time, Jordan loves spending time in the sunshine and can be found soaking up the rays any chance she gets. Her summer days are spent on the water and when the snow falls you can find her on the hill. She also enjoys spending time with family, friends, and all the furry babies! Jordan’s passion has always been about working with older adults, but she quickly discovered it was the kids who also stole her heart.

Thank you Jordan, for your dedication to your clients and your passion for Occupational Therapy!
